Inside: My review of Boldify Hair Thickening Spray
Do you have fine, thin hair? Does it hang there, limply, even after it’s styled?
It’s a common problem, especially as women age and experience hormonal fluctuations that lead to hair loss.
Luckily, there’s a type of product that promises to amp up the volume on your hair – it’s called thickening spray, and apparently I’ve been living under a rock because I’d never heard of it until recently.

Boldify, a company that specializes in these types of products, reached out to me and asked me to review their Boldify Hair Thickening Spray in exchange for an honest review.
I have fine hair and sometimes I want to add a little extra oomph to it, so I agreed to test it out!
WHAT IS BOLDIFY HAIR THICKENING SPRAY?
Boldify Hair Thickening Spray is a lightweight texturizing volume spray that increases the fullness of your hair without weighing it down. It makes your hair appear thicker and fuller while keeping your hair flexible and natural-looking all day long.
HOW TO USE IT
Step 1: Wash hair with your favorite shampoo
Step 2: Spray Boldify on damp, towel-dried hair
Step 3: Air dry or blow dry – either one is fine!
I admit to having a lifelong hatred of hairsprays, as the ones I used in my youth (like AquaNet) tended to weigh my hair down and make it stiff. And they were often heavily, cloyingly scented.
But Boldify’s scent is very light, it dissipates shortly after application, and it doesn’t trigger my allergies, which I appreciate.
And, unlike the Earth-destroying aerosol sprays of my youth, Boldify delivers a light mist when you pump it onto your hair. It only took me about 4 pumps to cover my hair.
I like to air dry my hair most of the time, as I’m trying to avoid heat, which can yellow gray hair.
So, after washing and conditioning, I wrap my hair in a t-shirt towel for 10-15 minutes, and then spray my hair with Boldify, and comb it through.
Here’s how my hair looks after air-drying without Boldify:
And here’s how it looks after air-drying with Boldify:
As you can see, the volume is insane with Boldify – I LOVE it! My hair is naturally wavy but this seems to amp up the waves even more. Yay!
My hair feels and looks much thicker than it does on days when I don’t use it. And the best part is that my hair feels soft and luxurious, not sticky or gunky at all.
I use the Revlon One-Step Volumizer (set on LOW) instead of a regular blow-dryer, and the first thing I noticed after I started trying to dry my hair was that it was more difficult to pull the brush through my hair after using Boldify.
Normally, my hair glides through effortlessly, but this time the roller brush kept getting a bit stuck on my hair while I was pulling my hair through it, which made me admittedly nervous!
Hot tools combined with products can stain gray hair, and I worried that my hair looked like it was taking on caramel tones as I was drying it. (Normally, I would spray my hair with heat protectant before drying but it completely slipped my mind this time!)
However, that being said, even my blow-dried hair appeared much thicker after using the Boldify Hair Thickening Spray! It felt very voluminous and luxuriously thick and soft, so I was happy with the results.
I can remove the caramel tones from my hair with QuickSilverHair Clay, so I’m not too worried about them, but in the future, to protect my gray hair from any discoloration, I will only use this product on my air-dried hair.
If your hair is not gray, I’d say you could definitely use the thickening spray on your hair with no qualms if you plan to blow-dry.
** Note – I recently tested Boldify’s Hair Boost Serum, which is a heat-protectant – you can read my full review below, but here’s a quick snyposis: I will use that for blow-drying from now on. I got the same great results, with none of the issues I had blow-drying with the Thickening Spray!
HOW LONG DOES THE THICKENING LAST?
I only wash my hair once or twice a week, so I’m delighted to announce that the thickening results lasted up to 4 days (whether air-drying or blow-drying).
As you’d expect, my hair appeared thickest on the first day, but I didn’t notice any big decline in results after that.
Even by Day 4, my hair feels and looks thicker than it does on days when I don’t use this product.
Once I’m ready to wash my hair, the thickening spray washes out easily and doesn’t leave any residue.

OTHER BOLDIFY HAIR PRODUCTS
I was so pleased with Boldify’s ThIckening Spray that I also tested out some of their other products.
BOLDIFY HAIR BOOST SERUM
Boldify’s Hair Boost Serum is a leave-in conditioner, thickener, and thermal protectant. You apply it to clean, towel-dried hair prior to using hot tools.
Just like the thickening spray, the serum smells light & fresh.
I tested it using the same method I used above for my blow-dry: I applied it to damp hair, combed it through, and then used my One-Step Blow Dryer Brush to dry my hair.
Unlike with the thickening spray, the serum let the brush glide effortlessly through my hair and I didn’t see any evidence of staining! What a relief!
My hair looked and felt thick afterward, and smelled fantastic! I celebrated by actually dressing up a little and taking this photo for posterity (after months of wearing no makeup due to the pandemic)!
HOW TO USE THE SPRAY AND SERUM TOGETHER
If you want extra texture and volume, you can actually use the serum and spray together.
Instructions: Once the serum has been applied, blow-dry or air-dry hair until it’s just barely damp, then apply the thickening spray lightly and evenly throughout before you complete the drying/styling process.
BOLDIFY HAIR BOOST GUMMIES
The Boldify Hair Boost Gummies promote long, strong, and healthy hair, and promise to boost hair growth. They are 100% certified vegan and sugar-free.
These gummies are hands-down the most delicious biotin hair gummies I’ve ever tasted! They also don’t clump together, which is fantastic.
They are sweet but not overly sweet.
I’m only a few weeks into testing them, so I can’t speak to their effectiveness yet, but will update this post after I’ve used them for a while.

I was a bit skeptical as to whether Boldify Hair Thickening Spray would work, but it DID work and I like it so much that I’m adding to my current hair care regimen for sure! I also appreciate that it’s cruelty-free, as that’s important to me.
After testing both the thickening spray and the serum, I’ve decided to use the spray for days when I air-dry my hair and the serum for days when I use hot tools (I’ll just follow the instructions above and spray some thickening spray in at the end of my drying routine on days when I want some extra oomph).
If you want to try these products, remember that they have a money-back guarantee if you aren’t satisfied. You can’t beat that!
