Purple is the opposite of yellow on the color wheel, so purple shampoo helps neutralize yellow tones in grey hair. Neutralizing those brassy and yellow tones causes a lovely brightening effect.
I can’t stand heavily scented products. I’m happy to report that Pantene Pro-V Silver Expressions Purple Shampoo has a very light floral scent. It is not overpowering at all.
I try to avoid silicones as they can promote product build-up. And parabens can disrupt the body’s hormonal cycle (no thank you!). It is also color-safe, so it works on dyed grey hair as well!
But the Pantene Pro-V Silver Expressions Purple Shampoo bottle said to put the shampoo on wet hair and leave it on for 3-5 minutes. I decided to play it safe and left it on my wet hair for 4 minutes.
As I mentioned above, purple shampoos tend to be very drying. But even though I only used a regular strength conditioner, my hair felt very smooth and silky.
With most purple shampoos, I would only recommend using them once a week at MOST as they can be drying. Nobody wants straw-like hair! And they can leave a purple tinge to the hair if used too often.
